Our Origins

Emmanuel Pentecostal Mission Church (EPMC) was established on 27 October 1959 when approximately twenty-five believers stepped out in faith together. This step came with a lot of challenges but they persevered with fasting and prayer waiting on the Lord for guidance. The name Emmanuel came from the Lord and the rest came from the Executive Council.

Our church was registered as EMMANUEL PENTECOSTAL MISSION CHURCH (Emmanuel Pinkster Sending Kerk) as a trust without profit. Our first constitution was approved in 1961 setting the foundation whereupon the church is managed by the Executive Council. Furthermore, the church is divided into Districts with their District Council and Chairpersons. Where congregations were big enough, a full council is selected. The church host the whole church once per year where all the branches congregate in the mother church for a conference. Over Easter conferences are routinely held in either Namibia (Windhoek), Northern Cape, Southern Cape, North West (Transvaal), Mpumalanga (Nelspruit), Durban, etc.

Our first church was built in 1965 in 2 nd Avenue, Ravensmead. Our church grew extensively over two decades seeing that the full-time workers extended to 12 people. The first leader of EPMC was Past. I. Foster and the first National Scribe was Past SF Engelbrecht. The first council consisted of Past. I Foster, Past. A Fortuin, Past. SF Engelbrecht, Past. K Fortuin, Past. W Foster, Past. Kana and Past. D Cloete.

The church branched out to establish the first church building in Windhoek under the leadership of Past D Cloete. The Lord blessed our church and saved a lot of souls, especially those of young people. The Holy Spirit worked mightily and EPMC became a place where/people came to seek guidance from God.
